As anyone who has ever lived in Central Texas can tell you, seasons are sometimes a little tricky. While us Texans may not have as cut and dry differences in seasons as many other states, the different seasons still bring many factors that can change the way your wedding goes and your photos look.
Spring
Spring in Central Texas includes the months of March, April, and beginning to mid May. Spring is a highly desired season for weddings. With that, usually comes higher pricing and less availability. So, if you’re looking for a spring wedding, booking early is key! There is a reason why spring is the busiest wedding season. Here in the Waco-Austin area, you never truly know what the weather has in store, but for the most part the spring season brings wonderfully moderate weather with high temperatures around the 70s and 80s. The only thing weather wise that you really need to be aware of in spring is the occasional rain or hail storms. One major advantage to having a spring wedding is the Texas wildflowers. In Central Texas, Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrushes, and Purple Coneflowers, are just a few of the stunning flowers that blossom in the spring and can add a wonderful pop of color and nature in your outdoor wedding or engagement photos.

Summer
Summer in Central Texas is from mid May to August. Summer is another high demand season, although in Texas you might be a little choosier about what months you pick based on the fact that mid to late summer are hot. You’re likely to avoid rainy weather but almost guaranteed to have temperatures in the high 80s, 90s, and sometimes breaking triple digits. So if you get hot fast or worry about makeup melting, an outdoor wedding in the summer is not the move. Despite high temperatures and probably not-so-lush grass, there are still some bonuses to having a summer wedding. One perk to having a summer wedding is that the trees are full and green. Another perk is that the sun will stay shining late into the night, up until 9 o’clock at some points in the summer! This provides bright, vibrant colors.

Fall
Fall months in Central Texas are September through November. This season probably has one of the largest ranges of high temperatures (90s to 60s) since even though September is in the fall, those high 90s don’t typically die down until the end of the month, or sometimes into October. This season may be a little temperamental and not as easy to plan around weather or temperatures. One major advantage to having a fall wedding is the beautiful rich colors of the changing leaves. Reds, browns, yellows, and lingering greens give a wonderfully cozy depth of color, even if it really is 90 degrees still.

Winter
Winter in Central Texas is December through February. Winter is again, a bit tricky when figuring out what the weather will be like. With temperatures averaging anywhere from 70s to 30s, it’s sometimes difficult to guess the weather. Although it’s not guaranteed, you can probably expect some ice and possibly snow during the month of February. If you are able to catch that rare snow day on your winter wedding date you will definitely have some unique and perfectly winter photos. Since it’s basically impossible to plan your wedding for a snow day in Central Texas you should focus on the typical attributes of a Texas winter. Trees will probably be bare, but if you are opposed to heat you’re more likely to get the type of weather you want by scheduling your wedding in the winter.

Whatever season you choose to have your wedding should reflect the vibes and personalities of you and your fiance. With all of the different variations in weather and colors of nature, there is plenty to keep in mind when picking your date.
