Central Texas Engagement Photo Locations For Every Personality

Planning for engagement photos is exciting as it can feel like the first big step in the journey toward your special day. If you don’t already have a place in mind to take those pictures though, trying to find one can be a bit overwhelming. I’m here to tell you not to stress! There are so many cool and meaningful places in central Texas that can fit you perfectly. I have included some location ideas below.

Some tools that can help you are to think about what vibes you want, and whether or not you want to use your engagement photos for your save-the-date. Your vision can influence if you want the location to showcase a shared hobby, have sentimental meaning, or have an aesthetic backdrop. If you want to use them for your save-the-dates, you should consider if you want a certain color or backdrop for that.

If you decide to book me as your photographer for engagement or wedding photos (all of my wedding packages include a complimentary 1-hour engagement photo session) I send out a short questionnaire for my engagement sessions to get to know you better and give some suggestions based on your answers. I’ll send location ideas with loads of options in the area, and if you already have an idea that I haven’t included I can help you look into that as well. Once we’ve got a location I can also give advice on when the best time of day is for the location and date that you choose. I’m always happy to help. So sit back, relax, and browse through some of my engagement photo locations to get an idea that will match your vibe!

Scenic locations for the outdoorsy couple

Do you and your fiance love some outdoors time? Is hiking a fun and familiar pastime? If so, these locations will be straight up your ally. While you’re not likely to find a lush forest complete with 200 foot fir trees in central Texas, there are still plenty of wooded areas that can create a calming and natural backdrop for your photos. If woods aren’t your thing, but you still want an outdoorsy feel, a field can be a nice location. Field photos can bring some warmth, and a bit more of a rural vibe to your engagement pictures. Dry land not it for you? Pictures by a river or lake can bring the romance, especially if you consider bringing props such as champagne, or a picnic blanket. Really the sky’s the limit when it comes to beautiful natural backdrops in central Texas, and I’m always down to hike to specific scenic spots on trails to get you the pictures you want.

Flower power for the bright and colorful couple

Would you describe your relationship as eccentric, bubbly, or bright? If so, you might consider an engagement shoot surrounded by flowers. Floral backdrops tend to bring a life and vibrancy to photos that you can hardly find elsewhere. Flower farms are full of different flowers that can bring many different pops of color. Arboretums can give you the greens, yellows, and reds that can make for perfect spring or fall pictures. And gardens are the best of both worlds with all the flowers and trees giving a full display of colors.

Sunset photos for the cool urban couple

Rural totally not your style? If you consider yourself a city person through and through then some urban sunset photos could be perfect for you. Photos along the street, in front of shops or under street lights with the sun going down behind you can give you a cool urban vibe. Another favorite for urban sunset photos is on a rooftop, or the top floor of a parking garage. If you can find a rooftop or parking garage that features the skyline of the city in the back, this makes for the perfect cityscape engagement photos.

Studio photos for the private couple

Are you and your fiance a bit more shy? Do you not like to bring attention to yourselves in public? If this is you to a tee, you might consider a photo studio. Photo studios may not appeal to everyone, but they are clean and have good lighting. If you are more reserved you might feel better knowing that there aren’t any outsiders watching you or getting in your way during your photo session.

Coffee shop or bar for the mellow couple

Are you a laid back couple who likes to kick back and listen to some soft house music while you sip your cappuccino or cocktail? If so, engagement photos at a coffee shop or bar could be great for you. Some dim indoor lighting, or a cute outdoor patio can give you some of those laid back feelings.

Your favorite date-night spot for the sentimental couple

Do you and your other half melt over sentimental moments? If the little things mean more to you than most, an engagement session at your favorite date-night spot will help you relive your old memories and make new ones all at the same time. A library, art museum, or movie theater are all some places that you could consider. If it has special meaning to you it will make your photos so much more romantic and the love will show right through the camera!

The possibilities are endless when it comes to finding the perfect spot for your engagement photos. Central Texas has a wide variety of outdoor and indoor locations that can fit any personality. If you book with me and have an idea outside of this list or want to hear more suggestions from me, I will work with you to secure the perfect place for your engagement photos.
