If you’re planning a surprise proposal for your special someone, your number one priority is probably keeping it a secret. Don’t think that just because you want to keep it under wraps, you can’t have a photographer. In fact, your photographer might even be able to help you pull off your surprise engagement without a hitch.
Why should you book a professional photographer?
In many ways, your proposal is the beginning of forever for you and your future spouse. It’s a big moment, and big moments deserve to be captured. When people ask you how the proposal happened, now or years later, you will be able to pull out the photos and tell them all the details.
How it works when you book me
The first step we’ll need to take after you book me is discussing the plan. I’ll need to know what specific location you will be in, what clothes you will be wearing, when you expect to pull out the ring, and any other details. The more details the better, I want to make sure I am capturing the right people at the right moment and that it remains a surprise so I can capture a genuine reaction. We’ll also discuss what happens after. Will there be a second location, champagne, or family and friends around? If you don’t already have a special place and/or time in mind, I’m always happy to share advice such as what time of day will give you the best photos or a location with a romantic backdrop, where I can be hidden.

We’ll also need to decide how we are communicating on the day of. I’ll need someone to go to for questions. It can be through a family member or friend, or over text so your significant other won’t suspect a thing, but everything runs smoothly even if plans change. The day of I’ll be waiting in our planned spot with my camera hidden. When it’s time, I’ll step out and capture the proposal and the special moments that follow. I’ll take photos from a distance while y’all enjoy the moment. Whenever y’all are ready we can take additional posed photos. It’s nice to have some extra photos taken after so you can use them for your wedding invitations, or just to have!
After we get your proposal and any other pictures you want done, I start editing right away! I always give clients sneak peaks within 72 hours so you can make an announcement, and I’ll deliver the final gallery a few weeks later.
